Known Issues

Mailplane 1.61.x

• “WebKit still in use” error message when updating Mailplane
  Solution: Restart your Mac or sign out/sign in your Mac account to close all applications. Download the latest Mailplane version and overwrite your current Mailplane with the new version inside the DMG file. Finally, start Mailplane.
• Toolbar buttons/menu items don’t work.
  Solution: Open your Gmail settings and enable keyboard shortcuts.
• For some users, the offline indicator doesn’t go away when it should. 
  Solution: Disable the offline indicator in Advanced preferences. This seems to happen more often under Mac OS X Tiger (10.4) than Leopard (10.5)
• Cursor jumps to another field when pressing the SHIFT key.
  Solution: Disable "Use System WebKit" in "Advanced" preferences or switch to Gmail "Plain text" editing.

Mailplane 2.0

• Frequent crashes when using “Gmail Offline” w/Gears on Mac OS X 10.5.7

  We are investigating the issue. The crashes started with Mac OS X 10.5.7 and do only happen when you use Google Gears to access "Offline Gmail". Workaround: Disable Google Gears's usage statistics to get less crashes:

  1. Visit http://gears.google.com
  2. Click re-install
  3. Start installer
  4. When asked for "Usage Statistics" say "NO"
  5. Restart Safari & Mailplane

• Gmail shows “Loading” or “Still Working” infinitely
  Workaround: Do a Mailplane->Empty Cache then command click the "Sign out" link. Finally login again. Update: I am working on solution that will be released soon.
• Focus problem when replying: keys get interpreted instead of entered

  Sometimes keys get interpreted (instead of entered) when replying to a message. Workaround: 1) Open System Preferences 2) Click "Keyboard & Mouse" 3) Go to the "Keyboard shortcuts" tab 4) At the bottom of the window there is a "Full keyboard access" setting: Set it to "All controls"

• Toolbar buttons/menu items don’t work.
  Solution: Open your Gmail settings and enable keyboard shortcuts.

Mailplane 2.1-beta

• Gmail shows “Loading” or “Still Working” infinitely
  Workaround: Use "Mailplane->Reset Gmail Session" to get rid of the "Loading" message.
• “Offline Gmail” doesn’t work with “Sender Time Zone” lab feature
  Using the Sender Time Zone lab in conjunction with Offline Gmail will prevent you from opening messages while offline or in Flaky Connection Mode. Google is working to fix the problem, but in the meantime, you should disable Sender Time Zone to continue using Offline.
• Google Gears doesn’t work with case sensitive formated HFS drive

  In Google Gears 0.5.4.2, the installer creates

  /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Gears.plugin

  but the InputManager looks for

  gears.plugin

  (lowercase).

  Solution: Renaming it to all lowercase should solve the issue. More info...

• In rare cases, the inbox doesn’t load even when online.
  First do a "Mailplane > Reset Gmail Session". If it doesn't help, please consider to reset your Google Gears database:

  1. Stop Mailplane
  2. Open Finder and go to ~/Library/Application Support/Google
  3. Remove the folder Google Gears for Safari
  4. Setup Offline Gmail as shown in the installation movie.
